The Environments

The brief for this animation required more than 18 scenes and featured three different varieties of trains, all set within their own unique cg environments. Each one was designed and built using real-world scale to accomodate the distance each train would need to travel. The environment for the “high speed” train covered a distance exceeding 20km as it spanned from the countryside right into the city. This presented a number of challenges that were overcome by using high detail foreground elements (trains, bogies and components) mixed with low detail, but highly stylised background environments and visual treatments.
